KIOC newsletter: Ninth week update from the academy

  • in

Thanks to The Almighty and all your hard work, we have seen some wonderful performances in the KSCA Inter-school & Under 19 competitions.

As we briefly mentioned in the previous email our boys have really done us proud with some fantastic performances in the inter-school tourney. It is indeed heartening to note that there have been some outstanding Batting as well as Bowling performances by our young lads.

We are delighted to share the news that on the KSCA website from the six top school players of the week FIVE WERE KIOC LADS!

Top of the list among the batsmen undoubtedly are Shubhang Hegde (194) & Hemankith Reddy (195) who were unlucky to miss deserving double centuries. Aneeshwar Gautam excelled as an all-rounder with a century & a nine wicket haul to help his school win. The hard-working Amogh Docca had a match haul of TEN WICKETS ( 6+4). Tanuj Marlecha went one better capturing 13 wickets to help Bishop Cottons win handsomely. Defending a small score Nishok Jagan helped FAPS defeat Presidency by taking 5 wickets with some sharp bowling. Swaroop scored a brilliant century to help Holy Saint defeat Ebenezer International school. Sai Samarth scored a century for Ebenezer.

The other notable performers were Pranav Kumar, Anirudh Rao & Chinmay of SJBHS, Aqib Jawad (120) for DPS, Aneesh & Shahdad for Bishop Cottons.

In the under 19 Quarter Finals, Swastic (2) easily defeated Chintamani CC. Devdutt Padikkal (224) and Saishiv Nandan Narain (7 for 43 ) were just too good for the opponents. Shubhang Hegde & Vishal Dalodiya scored masterly half centuries. The semi-finals will be played at BGS on 13th & 14th Aug 2016.

We have mixed emotions regarding the KPL Auctions. While we rejoice the selection of 24 players from KIOC we regret that some good and highly deserving players have not been picked. The two players who have made big news and commanded a handsome price of Three & a Half lakh each are both from KIOC – Jonathan & Prateek Jain. Arshdeep Brar has also earned a good price of 2.3lakh(In addition to the auction price announced, KSCA pays 25% extra to each player).

Six of our KIOC coaches will be playing in this edition of KPL – Vinu Prasad, Chethan William, Dikshanshu Negi, Prateek Jain, Mohd Taha & Anurag Bajpai.

KIOC coach & former India Test player David Johnson is appointed MENTOR of Bellary Tuskers and Deepak Chougle is the assistant coach for Namma Shivamogga.

There are many other players selected from our clubs but not registered members of KIOC.

Here is wishing all of them a fantastic KPL and lots of runs & wickets.

Coming to the KIOC weekend academy, we had some good weather and fabulous attendance. At the assembly we had audio visual presentation
A) When everything seems to be lost – you still don’t give up.
B) Overcoming FEAR OF FAILURE through SELF BELIEF.
We shared many live examples of past & present KIOC cricketers.

We have announced a compensatory session on August 15th to make up for the day we lost due to the BANDH. Please make sure you attend according to your regular weekend schedule.

We once again appeal to one and all to make sure you arrive before the scheduled time. Also, please have your KIOC ID cards handy at all times.

Wishing everyone a great weekend and a fantastic week ahead – Please accept our Hearty Greetings on the occasion of India’s 69th Independence Day
